COLOR IS FLAVOR

Why the name Color is Flavor? The name for this website comes from my time helping my sister and brother-in-law with catering a wedding. While we were making toast for the canapes that we were serving some of the toast got a little darker than we probably wanted them too but they weren’t burnt. Instead of tossing them though we just said “color is flavor” and kept going! The phrase started as a joke but I have kept it and now use it to guide my cooking. It really is a true statement in the kitchen. Color is a very helpful guide to follow when cooking; We look for meat to brown, several baked goods to turn golden, shrimp to turn pink, tomatoes to ripen to a beautiful red, and so many other colors that are indicative of good food!

My name is Billy and I LOVE FOOD!!!!!!!! I really enjoy any content about food; from reading cook books and food magazines, watching cooking shows, and listening to food podcasts to cooking in my kitchen or eating at any restaurant I could talk about food all day and still find new things to learn about the topic. My love for food started when I was young! I learned a lot from being allowed to help out in the kitchen with my Mom and sister and it was so much fun! We made some really good food and baked goods and I had a blast spending time in the kitchen with my sister and Mom. One of my favorite things we made that I still make often was chocolate chip cookie dough! We barely ever actually made cookies because we just ate the dough and to this day I still prefer eating the dough instead of the cookies.
